I met Siham on a beach in Costa Brava when shooting a campaign there. She appeared from behind the rocks, climbing with a child on her back. My first thought was not even to take a picture, I just stopped there completely amazed by this beautiful scene, so pure and carefree. A bit scared to not ruin such an intimate moment, when our sights met I quietly asked if I could photograph her.
Nothing in her body changed when she knew the camera was pointing at her. No tension, any kind of uneasiness, posing or pretending. It was for me capturing a raw intimacy, and a little reminder of feeling this short moment before the frame is captured, when we are simply delighted with what we see, and it is from that delight that the picture is taken.
